Ordinances – Baptism & Communion

This was my first ever Sunday morning sermon! Our pastor was at youth camp all week, and so we decided that I should speak because his voice was likely to be strained from the week’s activities.

This message is part of a series we called “Rooted,” in which we looked at basic elements of the Christian faith. I was given the topic of “ordinances,” which is a collective word for water baptism and communion. Anyway, I got a lot of positive feedback about this message, and I hope you enjoy it, too.

Sermon Audio: Resting in Jesus

I’d been reading The Normal Christian Life by Watchman Nee, and this is the sermon that I delivered to my church as a result.

Essentially, let me sum it up by saying that too many Christians expend too much energy trying to make God happy and trying to make themselves holy. The simple truth is that all of the work of procuring holiness has been done for us, and God will surely produce it in us if we will only rest in Him.
