I was recently at a function that served pizza with predetermined toppings. The majority had very specific toppings. This frustrates me. In a large crowd, cast the widest net, and then fill in with specialty items.
Church should work the same way. Pastor first to the crowd, at the simplest level. Seek the common denominators. Once that’s established, you can specialize in other areas. Steward the crowd so everyone feels accepted and loved. Then, you can go deeper with smaller groups.
